Under a related pact - also brokered in July 2022 - U.N. officials agreed to help facilitate Russian food and fertilizer exports. As a workaround to that demand, JPMorgan had been processing some Russian grain export payments with reassurances from Washington. Russia may export at least 55 million tonnes of grain in the 2023/24 marketing season, slightly less than the estimated record-breaking 57 million tonnes in the 2022/23 season, Russia's Grain Union said last month.

He said the EU would "continue to support the tireless efforts" of the United Nations and Turkey to revive the Black Sea grain deal. KYIV, July 16 (Reuters) - The last ship to travel under a U.N.-brokered deal that allows the safe Black Sea export of Ukrainian grain left the port of Odesa early on Sunday ahead of a deadline to extend the agreement, according to a Reuters witness and MarineTraffic.com. A United Nations spokesman said on Friday that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was waiting for a response from Russian President Vladimir Putin on a proposal to extend the deal. Russia has repeatedly threatened to quit the deal, brokered by the U.N. and Turkey in July 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials did not immediately comment on whether the ship, the Turkish-flagged TQ Samsun, had left Odesa. Ukraine and Russia are among the world's top grain exporters.

Footage also showed Kilicdaroglu's security detail carried assault rifles and were on the stage with him as he delivered his speech, the first time such protection was apparent during his election campaign. A source from Kilicdaroglu's Republican People's Party (CHP) said the 74-year-old main opposition leader wore the vest and security was ramped up after receiving "intelligence that he could be attacked". The ship, the Panama-flagged Bomustafa O, arrived in the Turkish Black Sea port of Samsun on Monday, with a cargo of 19,000 tons of barley, according to shipping records and the correspondence. Days earlier, Ukrainian prosecutors in Kyiv wrote to Turkish authorities asking them to seize the ship, saying that it had loaded barley at a port in Russian-occupied Crimea, according to the correspondence reviewed by the Journal.
